Lauren is in charge of all of that goes on in the Refugee Career Hub. She generates the vision behind all that is done. She also keeps connections with various businesses and educational groups connected with the Hub.
Alaa screens and interviews clients for new jobs. As a human resources professional with 13 years of experience as an HR generalist and administrator, Alaa uses her experience working for a major oil company in Kuwait and her fluency in English and Arabic to connect refugees to open positions in Atlanta.
Yohannes makes connections with businesses that are willing to hire refugees, and helps the clients that come in find spots in such companies. Also, Yohannes helps translate for clients that speak Amharic or Tigrinya if needed.
IT/Community Training Specialist
James manages the program technology and teaches refugees work and life skills, as well as careers in emerging fields including web development and solar. Prior to Friends of Refugees, James founded a refugee youth organization and served as an employment specialist in a refugee agency in Arizona. Not only is James a survivor of the civil unrest in DRC Congo, but he speaks over 5 languages including French, Lingala, Lunganda, Spanish and Swahili.
Ruby trains and coordinates volunteers. She also organizes volunteer events and facilitates the employment shifts to try to ensure a smooth process for the clients, staff, and volunteers.
